Annuuncing PROJECT MOONBASE AND OTHERS by Robert A. Heinlein

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Subterranean Press is proud to announce a two volume set that will contain virtually the last unpublished material by Robert A. Heinlein.

Project Moonbase and Others contains the screenplay for the now classic sf film, plus twelve finished teleplays and two story outlines for a projected television show, The World Beyond. In addition to original tales (”Ring Around the Moon” and the story outlines “Home Sweet Home” and “The Tourist”) Project Moonbase also contains teleplay adaptations of such RAH classics as “Delilah and the Space Rigger,” “And He Built a Crooked House” and much more.

The material in Project Moonbase, by terms of the contract, cannot be reprinted for at least five years following release of the Subterranean Press edition — the only exception being its inclusion in The Virginia Edition of RAH’s work, a set of volumes that will cost thousands of dollars. As the SubPress print run is limited to only 750 numbered and 26 lettered copies, we expect it to sell quickly.

Collector’s Note: Those who purchase Project Moonbase and Others will have the right of first refusal to purchase the same number or letter of volume two in the set.

Book News — Jim Butcher, Tim Powers, Elizabeth Bear, and Philip Jose Farmer

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Our edition of Tim Powers’ classic supernatural pirate novel, On Stranger Tides, will feature the original cover art by James Gurney — with a different design for both the trade and limited editions. To make the limited even more attractive, Mr. Gurney has agreed to sign it!

Jim Butcher, author of the ultra-popular Dresden Files, has turned in a novelette set in that series for us. Check out as Harry Dresden’s big brother offers some “Backup” to get everyone’s favorite PI wizard out of a nasty spot of trouble.

One of last year’s most popular titles was Elizabeth Bear’s New Amsterdam — to be released in April as a trade paperback. We’ve just signed a contract with Ms. Bear for a 30,000 word follow-up to that tale, dealing with the wampyr Sebastian many years later.

Our string of publishing Philip Jose Farmer will continue into 2009, as we’ve just reached agreement to publish an omnibus of three of PJF’s lesser known, but still excellent novels, to be gathered as The Other in the Mirror. If all goes according to plan, each novel will feature a special introduction by an sf/fantasy luminary.
